monochromatic

monochromatic style isn't your everyday look, it's kind of that style for a photoshoot or if you wanna flex around and feeling yourself. This style, unlike your're casual street fit, is not easy to pull off. It's not as simple as wearing the exact same solid shade of red and calling it a day, I mean unless you wanna look like a hot dog. The idea of this style is using various shades and tones of the same color and piecing together to create an aesthetic masterpiece. I believe monochromatic style in the winter is probably the best idea as you can add different layers and textures to enhance the overall fit. The idea of having a single color from head to toe may seem very unstylish, but trust me, if you do this style right, you'll turn heads left and right from the supreme box logo boys. Aight as mentioned above monochromatic style isn't the easiest thing to pull off, but once you get the different tones and shades right, you'll be rocking monochromatic styles with ease. You also don't have to worry about any statement pieces, as the entire monochromatic look is a statement in and in itself. However, it is best to wear monochromatic in the winter and fall season, you'll have a lot more fun with layering. The most important thing is making sure you can handle the color of your choice well, or else your outfit will look horrendous. But also don't be basic and wear all black, there's really no point UNLESS you're mixing it with grey tones.

Since your main focus is that monochromatic look, you wanna minimalize the designs as much as possible so it doesn't take the spotlight. Starting from the top, think of the outermost layer in your fit, usually it's your jacket or your shirt. Find the core color you want to focus on. To make it easier use the neutral tones like black, grey, beige, etc. Using a neutral tone will make it easier if you need to get a missing piece of your outfit at the store. If you have a jacket, make sure that the tones are slightly different so you have a little contrast.

NOTE: When experimenting with beige tones, you have to make sure all the pieces are the exact same COLOR, but different tones. Usually a lightish brown or a pale peach could be mistaken for beige and it will completely throw off your look...believe me I've tried before.

As we move onto the pants, also make sure it's either a different tone or the exact same tone as either your shirt or jacket. Along with the top, you want to minimalize the design but you also want to make sure you mess with the texture to add some depth to the outfit. Remember, no intense distressing if you are wearing denim.

Textures such as wool, velvet, corduroy, silk, and of course, denim are all unique textures you could try and experiment with. Even though texture isn't something we're focusing on, it can definitely enhance the overall look, but focus on getting the colors correctly first.

To complete the overall monochromatic look, you should stick to the same color pallete as the rest of your outfit. Again, stick to minimal styles with not much branding and bright colors, your shoes should be fresh but not the statement piece. However, since shoes are hella expensive, usually wearing an all white pair of shoes will do the trick, as grey and beige tones do coordinate with white very well. Some sneakers have monochromatic colors literally within itself, so look out for them as well.

Since you're already decked out in monochromatic it's only right you find some socks that coordinate with the fit. I find that white socks usually do the trick, but if you really focus on the details and go all the way you can find socks that perfectly work with your outfit.
